Collective Memory Partners with Walrus to Build the Future of Social Networks Onchain

Aimed at redefining the rules of online social media, Collective Memory is building a decentralized, living map of authentic human experiences–leveraging Walrus as the data layer for millions of real memories.

Collective Memory, a new kind of social network built on the fundamentals of attention and trust, today announced a multi-phase partnership with Walrus to bring millions of user memories onchain, advancing the creation of the world’s largest corpus of real-life moments. The partnership addresses key scaling, trust, and economic challenges tied to the network’s rapid growth, establishing a foundation for a more authentic and decentralized record of human experience.

Collective Memory is designed to capture the unfiltered reality of users' lives, without the algorithmic bias or platform censorship associated with traditional sharing platforms. Uploaded photos, videos, and texts, or “Memories,” represent actual assets on the network and are verified by time and location to ensure authenticity. Supporters can stack ATTN tokens on content they believe matters, driving relevance and visibility on the platform for posts about daily life, culture, protests, or other trending events.

The platform’s Reality Graph, a decentralized map of verified human experiences, rewards creators who capture attention-worthy moments and early supporters who recognize their significance. Together, they form a prediction market of what matters, building an open, uncensored knowledge base that grounds understanding for both humans and AI.

“The average person is now keenly aware of how much algorithms drive the content they view online, all in the service of private company profits. It is wrong that these platforms can hijack people’s attention, purely to make more profit for themselves, it doesn’t benefit the user financially or experiencially. People are becoming weary and resentful at the idea of being controlled by massive centralized social platforms,” said Rebecca Simmonds, Managing Executive of the Walrus Foundation.

“Collective Memory is rewriting how users engage with social content online, by voting content up or down, and by being rewarded for engagement, they are putting users back in the driver’s seat of what they see in their feeds, as opposed to being shown content selected for them by a pre-determined algorithm driven by a profit motive. Walrus’s seamless scalability, speed and transparency is a natural fit for Collective Memory as it continues to grow and bring on more users across the world.”

With over 1.8 million Memories currently stored on Collective Memory across iOS, Android, and web-based applications, Walrus unlocks a host of new capabilities for the platform, including:

  • Trustless and verifiable assets: Every Memory’s existence and integrity becomes publicly verifiable and auditable, allowing for a truly censorship resistant platform.
  • Attention-based user retention: Automation of real-world memory logic, allowing for only relevant Memories to maintain prevalence in users’ feeds.
  • Unparalleled scalability: Walrus provides the necessary bandwidth for Collective Memory to grow to millions of assets without architectural risk.

The partnership also aligns with Walrus’ mission to activate data markets through verifiable and auditable data assets powered by blockchain, with Collective Memory seeking to drive authentic content and user-powered assets as part of its core mission.

“Our goal from the outset was to create a platform that mirrors the essence of human memory - guided by attention, trust, and authentic real-life moments,” said Jonathan Saragossi, co-founder and CEO of Collective Memory. “With Walrus, we’re bringing that vision to life, empowering creators to earn from genuine captures and rewarding early investors in attention-worthy experiences. We’re shaping a new kind of digital reality, driven by authenticity instead of opaque algorithms, and redefining how social networks distribute information, and value.”

Together, Collective Memory and Walrus are creating the foundation for a more open and accountable digital world. One where data, truth, and ownership belong to users, and authenticity becomes the web’s most valuable currency.
